Entangled Whale "Churchill" Presumed Dead.

A Right Whale entangled in fishing gear off the coast of Massachusetts gained national attention after being spotted June 8. A ¾-inch thick fishing line was deeply imbedded in the whale’s jaw causing a massive infection. Scientists were unable to remove the line and the infection was not treatable. Churchill was tracked with a satellite tag until September when signals stopped being received. He is presumed dead. He was named Churchill because, like his namesake, he did not want to surrender.
