Brevard County Issues Invasive Plant Ordinance

    Brevard County has created an ordinance to require that new development remove the most destructive invasive plant species, like Brazilian Pepper and Melaleuca, from their property at the time of development. Existing homes are not required to remove invasive plants under the ordinance, though state law forbids cultivation, transportation or ownership of the most damaging invasive plants.
