Roland DuBlois from Indian River County said building a bridge to the island is prohibited by a recent court ruling that the property owned by Lost Tree Village Corp. does not extend to the barrier island. The county has been awarded a $ 5.5 million grant from the Florida Communities Trust to help purchase the islands. The County and the local governments would contribute the remaining funds. The county is currently looking to purchase the islands and then be reimbursed by FCT but Lost Tree Island Corporation has not yet agreed to sell.
