Whale Network Now Numbers 720 Volunteers

The whale network has grown by 124 people thanks to eleven training classes this season from St. Augustine to Vero Beach. In all, more than 400 people attended the free classes given by Julie Albert, Program Coordinator, and Harry Richter, former Program Coordinator! Thanks to our observers, more than 70 calls came in to the right whale sighting hotline (1-888-97-WHALE). The total number of sightings the NAVY received by March 4 was 217, a drop from last year's record 513 sightings.
