   After a ten year hold state official gave approval to designate funds to buy and preserve 26,000 acres of waterfront land from Volusia to Martin counties. The state Acquisition and Restoration Council of the DEP has committed millions of dollars to this project. The Blueway project will create habitat and a travel corridor for wildlife along the lagoon, while preserving land from development. Planners in St. Lucie, Martin, and Indian River Counties have begun looking at matching state funds to increase the speed and amount of land acquisition.
