Federal and state officials will spend millions to study ways of reversing the impact of fertilizers and the stormwater on the Indian River Lagoon.
A plan will be created to improve the water quality by restoring wetlands and creating large stormwater retention ponds to catch polluting runoff.
Also being considered is the replacement of causeways with low bridges to improve water circulation and removal of invasive species.
The study is expected to be completed in 2006 and recommendations would not commence before 2012.
